Quality Engineer (QE)

In my early days at GM, I took the helm as a QE, overseeing the testing of over five applications, with a keen focus on UI and data validation. Notably, I was the Lead QE for the Global Dealer Data Share (DDS) project. But here’s the twist – it was during this phase that my fascination with UI really took root. I found myself obsessing over pixels, consistency, and usability in the apps I was testing, a hint of the designer in me awakening.

Front-End Developer

Front-End Developer

Come November 2018, I took a leap from Quality to Front-End Development. This period marked my deep dive into the world of UI development, immersing myself in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. It was more than just coding; I found myself in constant dialogue with the UX Design team, exchanging ideas and perspectives. Unlike my developer colleagues, I discovered I had a distinct eye for design, ensuring our outputs were not just functional but also visually impeccable and aligned with our global design standards.

UI/UX Developer & Designer

By this stage, I had rapidly evolved from a budding front-end developer to one of the top talents in my team. My role expanded to mentoring new developers, imparting knowledge on UI/UX principles and our global design system. My focus gradually shifted towards designing and styling new features for dealer applications. I became instrumental in designing and demonstrating new features in Figma and Adobe XD, playing a pivotal role in saving GM millions annually.

My Work

Bridging the Gap Between Design & Code

As a self-taught UX/UI designer, I've learned the power of understanding front-end development principles. Designers are limitless in their creativity, but knowing what's technically achievable can be a game-changer in saving time and resources. My time at GM was transformational, crafting me into the seasoned professional I am today.

Due to an NDA, I can’t divulge much about my design work at GM. However, if my my journey has captured your curiosity, I’d be thrilled to share more with you! Meanwhile, here’s a glimpse of the UI Design work I'm authorized to share. 🙂

Vehicle Accessories Label

The Vehicle Accessories label is an important dealer requested feature that I worked on during my last few months at GM. This feature allows dealers to configure their vehicles accessory label directly from their inventory management software.

Vehicle Inventory Table

Working with a data heavy interface required displaying information in a clean and user friendly way. This table allows dealers to gain insights on their vehicle inventory.

Vehicle Accessories

I was given the task to design a new interface for dealers to configure their vehicles accessories. Below you will see some screens designed to support that flow.

Development Portal

This was an internal project with my team at GM. I lead this project & the design of the overall application. My task was to create a development portal for our team, with room to service other organizations with in the company. Taking inspiration from Youtube and Microsoft TFS, I created a portal that could be used by our team to manage training videos, projects and commonly used documents. I stayed true to GM’s global design system and even helped in the development process.
